The summer beach season opened in Israel officially on Monday, 1 Iyar. The day is accompanied by the season’s first lifeguard job action as they explain there are unresolved issues pertaining to their work conditions. The lifeguard’s union explains the negotiations have been taking place for two years, to no avail.
As a result of the job action, the lifeguards only manned the nation’s 143 regulated beaches until 14:00.
