A “achdus asifa” was held in Netivot on Sunday night the eve of 1 Iyar as bnei torah return to the benches of beis medrash. Taking part in the event was the head of the Shas Moetzas Gedolei Torah, HaGaon HaRav Shalom Cohen Shlita.
During his address which was aired by Kol Chai Radio, Rav Cohen attacked those who place Eretz Yisrael before all else, citing they are not sons of HKBH.
He stated “There are bnei torah among us and we must understand there are bnei torah and avodim we say ‘אם כבנים אם כעבדים’. A ben torah is a different entity and avodim is another. There are those capable of serving HKBH and study Torah but they are not sons of HKBH” he stated.
He added “There are those who place Eretz Yisrael before all else and other nonsense that enters their heads, perhaps they serve HKBH but they are not sons of HKBH”.

What?!! I’m not sure what he actually said, but what is written here is complete nonsense.
Possessing the ability to identify precisely who is and who isn’t the son of an everlasting Lord is sure to serve these bnei torah returning to the benches well. Take a bow maestro.

If there is no Eretz Yisrael, where would all these guys “learn”? I am upset by such remarks. There is room in this tiny country for everyone & all ideals and values, and when a Rav of such stature says things like this, the division and hate between Jews gets stronger. Then you wonder why Moshiach isn’t here yet? EVERY Jew is a child of Hashem. And like our own children, sometimes they don’t do what they are supposed to. Do we therefore toss them out with the trash? This is very sad and I think YWN is wrong posting it.
