A false alert occurred when the Red Alert alarm sounded in Ashkelon on Monday night. The heavy rains and accompanying winds were blamed for the false alert which alarmed many residents.

**One person was killed and 127 injured in vehicular accidents throughout Israel on Monday. One of the injured is listed in serious condition. As of Monday night, 296 people were killed on the nation’s roadways since January 1, 2009.
