Sixty months in prison is the sentence handed down by the Jerusalem District Court against a 32-year-old male who was found guilty of attacking elderly people in the Yemin Moshe neighborhood of Jerusalem with a taser. The defendant pleaded guilty to four such attacks, all carried out on the same day, all against senior citizens using a taser after which he robbed them.
The first attack involved a 70-year-old male who was seated on a bench and speaking on the phone. He ordered him to shut off the phone but was ignored. He then placed the taser against him and shocked the victim and stole his phone and fled.
A short time later he saw an elderly couple seated on a park bench. He ran towards them and demanded their phone. When they refused he asked for NIS 100 and they refused. He threatened them with the taser and then the woman gave the money and he fled.
The last victim was a woman standing near her vehicle. He approached her and instructed her to give him her bag and phone. He simultaneously threatened her with the taser and knocked her down. He grabbed her phone and left her injured on the ground.
