Ya’alon Backs Down on European Visit – Fearing Arrest

yaalon.jpgIt is indeed a sad day but the current anti-Israel atmosphere is definitely taking its toll in Jerusalem, with some senior ministers and IDF officers opting to forgo travel to Europe, fearing an international arrest warrant in connection to Operation Cast Lead.

One such person is Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Ya’alon, who explained that he willingly gives up travel to European destinations to permit the IDF to operate as it must; referring to Operation Cast Lead, the counter-terror offensive in Gaza intended to bring years of Kassam rocket attacks into southern Israel to a halt.

The former IDF chief of staff told Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) on Wednesday that he does not view the canceled travel plans as too significant a loss, realizing he is one of a list of ministers and generals being targeted by pro-PA (Palestinian Authority) attorneys working in Europe towards obtaining warrants to have the officials arrested. Ya’alon has earned his prominence on the list for ordering the hit against senior Hamas commander Salah Shadah seven years ago. During the aerial surgical strike, civilians in Gaza were killed.

Ya’alon, who also serves as strategic affairs minister in the cabinet had harsh words for Israel’s left-wing community and its harsh criticism of the IDF, which he states acted in an exemplary fashion during Cast Lead.

  1. I’m curious why President Obama never has to cancel any of his trips overseas for fear of being arrested for all the Iraqi citizens killed by mistake, or the Russian PM for all the Georgian citizens killed last year By “Accicdent” only the Israeli politicians who have a right to defend themselves according to London.

  2. Always better for everyone to stay in Eretz Yisrael! Ya’alon is a great military man. Ya’alon should be made Defense Minister and Barak should be moved to Dog Catcher! – No, wait, my mistake, Barak is not qualified to be dog catcher.

  3. It is amazing that the country that was founded to help Jew’s leave the ghettoes of Europe find themselves imprisoned in their own ghetto: the State itself.
