New Jersey – New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine has a nine-point lead vs. Republican gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie, according to a Suffolk University poll released today.
With eight days left until the election and most polls showing the New Jersey governor’s race as too close to call, the Suffolk University poll showed Corzine leading 42 percent to 33 percent and places independent candidate Chris Daggett far behind at 7 percent. That is the incumbent’s biggest lead all year, after Corzine spent months trailing Christie, at times by double digits.
Most recent polls have showed the governor’s race at a dead heat, with Daggett’s support as high as 20 percent.
The Suffolk poll — the first by that institution on the 2009 New Jersey governor’s race — is unusual compared with other independent surveys because it included all 12 candidates on the ballot. Most other polls have included just Corzine, Christie and Daggett, who was the only independent candidate to qualify for public matching funds and participate in the debates.

If this poll is correct, it would be a tremendous victory for Mr. Obama and an endorsement of his policies (for good or ill).
no way this is correct. Ive been following this election for a year. Its going to come down how much or how few votes dragnett – the independent in the race gets. He will probably get much less then the 15 pts most polls are saying hes going to get. If he gets 7 or 8 points, christie wins by 5 points. If anybody wins by more then a point or 2 it will br christie. I really believe health care will come down to this election.
If christie wins (the gop has it wrapped up in VA already), that will mean 2 big states that went for obama have elected republican governors.
It will give pause to the middle of the road dems and republicans who are thinking about backing obama on Health care.
I personally think Christie will win. The right is alot more motiviated
I cannot believe the poll is correct — I should say accurately projected. Granted this Daggett who is nothing more than a loser democratic plant is taking away votes from both sides, I sincerely hope we dont end up with another 4 years of Corzine. I cant afford his tax increases and wasteful spending.
The Governor is a yoshor who really wants to do the best he can for all. I spoke to him today and he is returning the Non-Public School Technology Initiative to the budget ($7 Million!) and is creating a commission to come up with relief for private school tuition.
Does anyone know who the lakewood vaad is supporting?
in response to #5, i have heard through my contacts that they are supporting Governor Corzine.
