Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is quite clear in his position regarding the IDF and Operation Cast Lead, last year’s counter-terrorism offensive in Hamas-controlled Gaza.

As Turkish officials continue efforts to play down recent vehement anti-Israel statements, Erdogan told the Arab satellite news network al-Jazeera that “Israel is guilty of war crimes” regarding Cast Lead. He accused the IDF of using weapons of mass destruction against innocent Gazan civilians, and he continues to call on the United Nations to adopt the findings of the UN Human Rights Commission Goldstone Committee report, and to take “appropriate actions” against Israel.
