What is being labeled a pogrom by some occurred on shabbos in the Heichal Shamir Shul located on Ramchal Street in Kfar Avraham in Petach Tikvah.
When mispalalim arrived, they found sifrei torah was thrown on the ground along with sifrei kodesh and there was damage to furniture and objects in the shul. Mispalalim explained the damage was “extensive” and it was clear there was one goal, to destroy as much property as possible.
The vandals also broke into the hall adjacent to the shul. They entered the hall’s kitchen and dumped all the contents of the refrigerator and damaged in the hall. As was the case in the shul, damage was extensive. A major kiddush was planned after davening for choson torah and choson bereishis.
Police explain they are determined to apprehend those responsible, with some in the inner circle explaining one of the possible directions of the investigation is an ongoing feud between the shul’s founder, businessman Meir Shamir and a group of youths known as the fans of the HaPoel Petach Tikvah team.
