As the police investigation for alleged corruption against Shas party leader Aryeh Deri moves ahead, Deri receives backing from within the party.
Minister of Religious Services David Azoulai on Wednesday, 5 Nissan announced the party stands firmly behind Deri, who he stated will continue to lead Shas. Azoulai made his remarks during a pre-Pesach l’chaim for faction members. He stated he is confident that the allegations against Deri will be disproven.
Police over recent days have questioned a number of close associates to Deri, some a number of times. Police have also visited Deri’s office and some of the homes of persons questioned to gather additional evidence in the case.
