Attorney General Dr. Avichai Mandelblit has announced he will be investigating alleged illegal campaign funding by opposition leader MK (Machane Tzioni) Yitzchak Herzog.

According to the allegations against him, he accepted funds from a private company which brings foreign nationals to Israel to work as caregivers during the 2013 election campaign.

Herzog has told the press he has nothing to hide and he plans to cooperate with investigators as much as possible. He labeled the case against him a “political assassination”.
