The IDF Prosecutor on Sunday, 2 Nissan, announced the closure of the case against Colonel Yisrael Shomer, pertaining to an incident that occurred in July 2015 when the colonel’s vehicle was attacked with a boulder. He responded by firing in the air and when they continued hurling rocks, he fired at a attacker, killing him. The attack occurred in the Binyamin Regional Council of the Shomron.
The probe into the fatal shooting revealed the attacker was shot and killed while in motion, not standing still, and this is used to explain why the colonel’s fire was not precise and landed out killing one of the attackers.
The prosecutor ruled the colonel’s actions were in line with rules of engagement and he acted appropriately, leading to closing the case.
