Over 1,000 lomdei Torah reported to the Jerusalem Ramada Hotel for the first day of three days of testing for semicha and dayanus. The exams are usually given at this time, following the zman and before yomtov.

The exams will be given on Sunday 2 Nissan in 20 different rooms in the hotel that were set up to accommodate the exams, which for the first time are being given by the Marmanet Company which has been hired by the Ministry of Religious Services to proctor the exams.

Among the persons seen arriving on Sunday are dati leumi and chareidi lomdim as well as persons in IDF uniform and even persons who live abroad, who came just to take tests.
