In her remarks as head of the opposition at the opening of the Knesset winter session, MK (Kadima) Tzipi Livni opted to launch and attack against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his government. She accused the administration of “humiliating the Palestinians” as well as “achieving its goal, to survive”, adding the administration has done absolutely nothing else.
She blames the Netanyahu government for the current breakdown in relations with Israel’s strongest allies, creating a political crisis with the White House and distancing and humiliating Israel’s “peace partner”, the PA (Palestinian Authority).
Livni called on the prime minister to make a decision, explaining we must decide if we want a Jewish state or a state of “all its citizens”, including a significant Arab population. Livni insisted the two-state solution is the only viable formula for future peace and maintaining the character of the Jewish state in the future.
Regarding the Goldstone Commission report, she accused the administration of botching the handling of the affair, pointing out America acted to remove it from the UN agenda as Israel’s staunchest ally but nevertheless, we did not act properly towards the Americans.
Livni concluded by calling on the prime minister to support efforts to change the nation’s governmental system, something that he openly supported in the past.
