A hearing is taking place in Jordan today, Sunday; to decide if an Israeli businessman who made public remarks insulting Jordan’s King Abdullah II will be released and permitted to return home to Israel. According to the man’s family, who hired a local Jordanian attorney, he needs to return home for medical treatment.
Foreign Ministry officials are involved, predicting the Israeli citizen will be released soon, adding that Israeli Arabs have been arrested for committing crimes in Jordan in the past, but this case is unique for an Israeli, while Jordanian officials have arrested others for insulting the king in the past.
Apparently, Jordanian authorities learned of the man’s insults against the king in this case, leading to his arrest and only after the family intervened was a hearing to weigh his release arranged for today.
