Increased security has been ordered for Rav Shmuel Rabinowitz, Rav of the Kosel and Holy Places, in light of increasing Islamic violence and attacks in Jerusalem’s Old City and other areas in the eastern capital.

The rav received increased security a number of months ago in response to threats from chareidi elements surrounding the rav’s role on the committee dealing with the renovations at Kever Rashbi. Security officials have reevaluated the situation in light of the violence that began on erev Yom Kippur and have ordered increased security for the rav.
