President Shimon Peres on Sunday morning, the first day of Chol Hamoed in Eretz Yisrael, made the rounds, visiting the sukkos of gedolei yisrael shlita.

Officials in the President’s Residence report Mr. Peres spent yomtov in the official residence, and he ate in the presidential sukka. On Sunday morning however, the president began traveling to meet with gedolei yisrael in their sukkot.

The day began with a visit to Har Nof, to Rabbi Ovadia Yosef Shlita, followed by a visit to Sephardi Chief Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar Shlita and then Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Yonah Metzger Shlita. The visits are expected to last about an hour each, permitting the president to discuss various pertinent matters with the rabbonim.

Speaking with the press from R’ Ovadia’s home, the president stated that the video obtained on Friday is encouraging, adding he continues davening for the soldier’s release, adding that he fears the road to his release is a long one.

On Monday, the second day Chol Hamoed, the tzibur may visit the presidential sukka from 9:00am-12:00pm.
