Councilman Deutsch Conducts Door-To-Door Outreach For Residents Facing Lien Sale

lCouncilman Chaim Deutsch (D-BROOKLYN) is conducting door-to-door outreach with teams of volunteers and staff, to reach those who are facing a lien sale. Many of his volunteers are multi-lingual, and able to communicate with those who might not have understood the Notice of Lien Sale that they would have received.

Councilman Deutsch has proposed a legislative bill in the New York City Council that will mandate the NYC Department of Finance to mail out notices in several languages. Currently, these important lien sale notices are only sent to property owners in English, which may be difficult for those who don’t speak English as a first language.

Councilman Deutsch encourages home or property owners to visit the NYC Finance website periodically, to ensure that they are not on the lien sale list.

“It is vital to reach as many people as possible who are on the lien sale list, to ensure that they have the opportunity to meet with experts from different agencies at a workshop I will be hosting at my District Office. This workshop will take place on Thursday, April 7th from 6 – 8pm at 2401 Avenue U,” said Councilman Chaim Deutsch.
