[INTERESTING VIDEO LINK BELOW] The Jerusalem District Court on Wednesday morning ordered a postponement in the trial of the Meah Shearim mother suspected of abusing and starving her son “C”. Mom appeared in court late, accompanied by her new attorney, Devorah Attia, who in a last-minute move, replaced attorneys David Halevy and Reuven Bar-Chaim. She requested a postponed to permit her adequate time to familiarize herself with the details of the case.
After a short discussion, Justice Yosef Shapira agreed to a postponement until 18 October.
Mom arrived about 30 minutes late, incurring the wrath of the court. She explained that she was vomiting, and that was the cause for the delay. (Reminder, the defendant is pregnant). The court advised her to get up earlier next time to allow for such an instance to ensure she arrives at 8:30am.
Rav Avraham Froehlich, who has been involved in the case from the beginning, requested a 45-day postponement to permit adequate time for defense counsel to prepare. Justice Shapira responded by telling the rav “I do not know who you are, but the court will not entertain such a notion and if the mother does not appear, the next court order will be issued against her”.
Shapira did not give Attia an easy time, telling her that if she is trying “salami tactics”, to divide the case into a volume of petitions and requests, it will not work. She responded by denying this is her intention, but pointed out she has an enormous amount of documents to acquaint herself with and it is virtually impossible to accomplish in less than 30 days.

I really don’t know what the point of re-hashing this story over and over and over again is. It just stirs up people’s emotions and, I think, is a case of lifnai eevair lo teetain michshol in getting people (on both sides) to say things they shouldn’t, since none of the readers really know (although some claim to) the real facts of the case. Nobody really knows who is in the right and who is in the wrong. I think this whole story should just be put on ice until the facts are clearly determined.
Intolerant “judge”.
interesting video? sickening. we are our own worst enemies. we are doomed.
YWN editor, shame on you for giving these people a forum to perpetuate a chilul hsashem. Neither them nor do we know all the facts.
#4: YWN made a Kiddush Hashem by giving them this platform.
chillul hashem
Kiddush Hashem.
Those who fear she may be guilty, pay no attention. Those that believe she is innocent already believe. Those in doubt are waiting for the facts and ignore this type of silliness. All Satmar achieves is making chassidim look a lot like Hammas or worse. They both hate the country of Israel, its leadership, and its institutions. They both accuse anything Israeli of outrageous nonsense. The difference is that this Satmar video will be played all around the Arab world showing that even Jews accuse the Israeli government and hospitals of atrocities. On Arab TV it’s followed with a call to kill all Jews. “Even a stone will call out, “Come there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him.” Great job Satmar! The Arab world will keep sending you money for more publicity stunts like this.
This video is sickening. These idiots should shut up and stop saying that this mom is innocent and the hospital is guilty. They have no clue as to who is right here. They look like absolute fools.Let the mom sit in jail if she starved her child for her attention, and maybe starve her for a little while too. And if they find out at the end of this that she is innocent, appologize and let her go. Her baby is gaining weight now, so (in my not so humble opinion) she is prob. the cause of the problem.
#9, When a Jew cries out in pain and protests the suffering of his sister who is being abused by the governmental authorities and denied her family life, that is a Kiddush Hashem.
#12: You need to have a serious mindset, to understand a serious point.
