When authorities released the name of Shas leader Aryeh Deri as the “senior politician” under investigation, it was reported a second politician was being investigated as well. The name of the second person has since been revealed, opposition leader MK Yitzchak Herzog, who also heads the Machane Tzioni party.
Responding to the report, Herzog released a statement to the media welcoming the probe by the Attorney General’s Office, which he explains he is certain will clear his good name.
There are allegations that Herzog accepted illegal campaign funds.
