During his efforts towards assisting the bochrim incarcerated in Japan, Bnei Brak Mayor R’ Yaakov Asher met with Israel’s ambassador to Japan, Nissim Ben-Sheetrit, who reportedly used all his diplomatic might to assist the bochrim. The ambassador continues his efforts, to assist towards having the sentenced bachor serve his term in an Israeli prison while working to assist the other two as their trial moves forward.
R’ Asher explains that during one meeting with the ambassador, during which he explained how the bochrim were suffering terribly from the cold, Ben-Sheetrit removed his jacket and instructed the mayor to give it to the young prisoner.
After meeting in the mayor’s office in Bnei Brak after Yom Kippur, R’ Asher accompanied the ambassador to Maran Rav Aaron Leib Shteinman Shlita, with the Rosh Yeshiva verifying the importance of his actions on behalf of the bochrim. Ben-Sheetrit told the Rosh Yeshiva that he is just fulfilling his responsibilities and is not entitled to any special acknowledgment. The Rosh Yeshiva however added that he has learned the ambassador actually exceeds what is required of him on behalf of the imprisoned bochrim.
The ambassador is quoted as commenting to the mayor following the meeting just how surprised he way by the modest small abode in which the Rosh Yeshiva resides despite his international reputation.

Please edit out that word at the end, “notoreity”. It means “famous for BAD things.” C”V to describe the Rosh Yeshiva as such!!!! Better to use the word “renown.”
First off, it’s spelled “notoriety”. And you should consult a dictionary before spouting off uneducated comments as such.
And now for a real correction; this sentence doesn’t make sense, “just how surprised he way by the modest small”.

You are correct that jrslma misspelled “notoriety,” but I’m sure it was just a typo — as was the typo in the article itself which had “way” instead of “was.”
But for the life of me I don’t know why you claim jrslma is “spouting off uneducated comments.” I give you the following from the Oxford English Dictionary (the OED being the definitive source for English language usage): “Notorious (adj.) – famous for some bad quality or deed.” Synonyms offered are “ill-famed” or “infamous.”
Similarly, synonyms for “notoriety” include “disrepute,” “ill-repute,” “shame” and “infamy,” an altogether pejorative list indeed.
jrslma, I stand by your criticism. “Notoriety” was definitely the wrong choice to describe HaRav Shteinman, shlita.
