From time-to-time, the Ministry of Education holds a gathering which includes presentations and professional information for educators. The persons involved in running these assemblies are paid from local government who is reimbursed by the Education Ministry. The assemblies address issues facing educators in the various sectors, including chareidim.
Last Thursday, 7 Adar-II, such an assembly was held in Bat Ilan University for members of the chareidi education sector. However, according to the chareidi participants, the event resulted in a serious attack to their moral and religious sensibilities. “We do not know whether it is ignorance and a lack of thought or intentional harassment but whatever the case, is was infuriating”.
One of the lecturers addressed the dangers facing the young on the internet, using photos to get the message across. Participants explain “The photos shown were negative in content as well as explicit and shockingly immodest, appalling in the worst way possible”. Needless to say the chareidi participants were severely offended and angered, and promptly left the hall in anger and embarrassment.
Officials in the ministry’s Chareidi Division were appalled, questioning why no one bothers to adjust the program to the needs of the chareidi participants. The organizers apparently did not have an acceptable response. Some feel the ministry did not bother doing its homework and instructing the organizers to tailor the event to the chareidim, once again showing the lack of understanding and respect that exists towards chareidim in the ministry.
Some say the ministry was simply trying to “fulfill its obligation”, to be yotzei, and nothing more and therefore no one bothered to adopt the program to the audience that was in attendance.

Forget Charaidim.
If the pictures were immodestly offensive, that constitutes an offence to the Human race. Surely the Charaidim weren’t the only Humans attending the meeting.
I would love to know what these photos were that caused the charaidi to get offended and storm out. Perhaps a picture of a man sitting next to a woman on an airplane?

At the top of THIS ARTICLE I have an ad appearing for a Russian dating site. Guess what kind of pictures appear? This is too ironic/moronic. Mods or whomever, please get your act together and clean up the ads on the site!
@Modern Guy – Having been brought up in secular America in the 50’s and 60’s I can give you a perspective of which you are possibly not aware. Public schools had separate girls and boys entrances. Phys. Ed. classes were separate. Public school students AND teachers had dress codes. Demonstrations of affection were not in the street. Non-kosher restaurants – the only ones I knew about – did not permit women to dine if they were wearing pants. And pardon me, but two-piece bathing suits were not yet available. Young women/girls did not wear heels until they were dating. Socks or hose were (almost) always worn. In other words, people viewed themselves as people not as smarter, liberated animals. People did not, in general, eat in the street. The pledge of allegiance was said each morning in school and creationism could still be taught in schools. Movies could be viewed by all except some were rated M (mature), but those would likely be PG-13 today not R or worse. The list goes on. People were offended in the face of immoral pictures and behaviors. Being dressed was seen as an obligation of the now almost extinct reach called Man. Being able to walk down the street with your child was not a challenge.
