In New York Tuesday, security was noticeably tight as world leaders gathered at the United Nations and the investigation continued into what officials believe was a plot to attack the city.
America’s top law enforcement officer believes that threat was very serious, as CBS News chief investigative correspondent Armen Keteyian reports.
As police and FBI worked to unravel a possible terror plot, CBS News has learned that the hunt is on to see if terrorists have stored a cache of explosives somewhere in New York City. In an exclusive interview with “60 Minutes”, Attorney General Eric Holder told correspondent Steve Kroft just how urgent the threat was.
“I think we’ve disrupted that which they’ve planned and it’s not totally clear to us at this point what it is they had in mind, though I think it is clear that something very serious and something very organized was under way,” Holder said.
“I think you’re going to see a general heightening of security in a variety of areas,” Holder said.
There were no new arrests Tuesday in the terror probe, but sources tell CBS News that up to a dozen people continue to be closely monitored by the FBI.

When are they going to realize in this gun-phobic city that the more law-abiding citizens that walk the streets armed, the safer we are! Yes, first there should be requirements, like a check of any criminal record or of any mental health problems, but healthy, normal, law-abiding citizens should not only be allowed, but should be encouraged to carry arms. If that seems strange to the New York mentality, anyone who has been to Israel knows that the streets are filled with armed civilians (not to mention armed military people) and the illegal use of a weapon is extremely rare. To the contrary, when an act of terrorism r”l occurs, it is usually an armed civilian on the scene that takes out the terrorist and protects innocent civilians from being harmed. Criminals will ALWAYS find a way to get a gun. THEY don’t care about gun laws (they’re CRIMINALS, remember?) Current gun laws only keep good people from getting guns, and THAT is a BIG mistake, especially in a world, and in a city (read the above article) that is getting more dangerous every day!

Obviously Holder is a deep thinker to come to these realizations. Only problem is I wish he could think a bit deeper to realize that these terrorists are emboldened by the fact that even if they are caught nobody would dare hurt them. After all isn’t it Holder that is going to prosecute government agents that may hurt someone while asking a few simple questions like where did you hide the bomb? Who else is in this plot? Who sent you to destroy our city? Sorry Holder won’t let you ask them unless you are polite. How does this man live with the contradictions?
