Towns’ Statement On The Celebration Of Rosh Hashanah

towns.jpgWashington, DC – U.S. Representative Edolphus “Ed” Towns (NY-10) released the following statement to YWN on the celebration of the Jewish New Year:

It is with a profound sense of hope for our Nation’s future and the world that I extend my warmest wishes for a sweet New Year, or Shana Tova, to Jewish Americans celebrating Rosh Hashanah. Rosh Hashanah marks the start of a period of deep reflection and spiritual renewal for Jews in Brooklyn and around the world that culminates with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

Every year during the High Holiday season, families, friends and communities come together before God to renew their commitment to the core Jewish values of kindness, charity and social justice. This year, may all Americans truly appreciate the importance of affirming these universal values, and may the year 5770 bring peace and happiness to the Jewish people and all the world.
