It has been a stormy week at the Gilad Farm community, viewed as an unauthorized outpost by the government, leading to one incident in which Jews hurled a firebomb at border police, who were trying to prevent moving a caravan to the Shomron location, Channel 1 News’ Yoav Limor reported on Tuesday night.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday when authorities arrived at the location to confiscate a truck that was to bring a caravan to the site. As a border police jeep escorted the truck from the area, a firebomb was hurled at the jeep. Baruch Hashem, there were no injuries or damage. Police reported seeing “a masked man who fled, heading to Gilad Farm”.
Authorities report the incident is unprecedented and it represents crossing a red line that should not have been crossed. The daily Yisrael HaYom quotes anonymous IDF sources as referring to the situation as “anarchy”.
Gilad Farm officials deny any connection with the attack, pointing the finger of blame at the ‘hilltop youth’ from the area. According to farm resident Iti Zar, the residents would not throw rocks, not at Arabs or Jews, so needless to say they would never entertain using a firebomb.
Security officials conclude that during recent months, there have been numerous incidents at the location, including rock-throwing attacks against Arabs.
