No one in Jerusalem can say he or she was surprised following the announced findings of the Goldstone Commission, the United Nations Human Rights agency’s committee investigating IDF war crimes surrounding Operation Cast Lead, the counter-terror operation in Gaza.
Officials in the Defense Ministry stated it is simply “inconceivable” to make an analogy between terrorists and victims, and Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin rejected the report outright, stating there is not another country in the world that would have endured the rocket attacks and acted as morally as Israel did. Israeli officials lambasted the report, which they insist “encourages future terrorism”.
Goldstone, the token Jew who led the commission, reports that Israel is guilty of war crimes and possibly, crimes against humanity as a result of the December 2008 January 2009 military operation in Gaza. Israel refused to cooperate with UN investigators, aware that Goldstone and his colleagues had one goal in mind, to deliver a blow against Israel.
It appears that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has decided not to respond officially, and he has called on his ministers to follow suit, to refrain from issuing a public statement to the racist report.
Israeli UN Ambassador Dr. Ariela Shalev stated the report does not come as a surprise to anyone. She called it “unilateral” and “political”, adding it fails to address years of rocket fire and thousands of rockets fired into southern Israeli population centers.
Pleased with the report, Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah stated the UN findings document the war crimes perpetrated by the occupational forces.

Was this report put together by that nazi medal collector?
The report said that both sides were engaged in “war crimes” since they fired on civilian population centers. By this standard, virtually all war probably constitutes a “crime against humanity”. No hiddush here.
Considering that many if not most wars have been fought over money (and real estate disputes are no more than mere דיני ממונות), most people in the world might agree. Indeed, over 80 years ago almost all the countries of the world signed a treaty to outlaw war (didn’t do much good, but its the thought that counts 🙂 )
When Israel bends over backward to protect “civilians” and is still condemed. Then if there is need for another war it should stop being so cautious.
