The state held an official memorial ceremony on Monday for the 11 fallen Israelis, athletes and coaches, who were murdered in the 1972 Munich Olympics terror attack, which took place on 26 Elul. A German policeman was also murdered in the line of duty during that country’s botched rescue attempt, unwilling to permit Israeli security to handle the Arab terror attack.

Representing the government was Minister of Culture & Sport Limor Livnat.
