Chief Rabbis of Israel Will Present Their Revised Plan for Kosel Prayer Area

icrThe Chief Rabbis of Israel, HaGaon HaRav Yitzchak Yosef Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Dovid Lau Shlita are preparing an alternative plan regarding the egalitarian prayer area near the Kosel for their upcoming meeting with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. The Chief Rabbis are working with the Rav of the Kosel and Holy Sites HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Rabinowitz Shlita. The three met on motzei Shabbos the eve of 26 Adar-I.

It is reported the three decided to create a new plan, one that does not recognize the Reform Movement. As details have not been released, one cannot understand how this plan will be accepted as an alternative since the non-Orthodox community has already been given an egalitarian prayer area.

This plan formulated by the rabbis will be presented to PM Netanyahu during their meeting but the Chief Rabbis are already aware of rumors that the meeting, which is set for Monday 27 Adar-I is likely to be canceled.
