According to Iran’s official state-run news agency, talks with the permanent members of the UN Security Council and German will get underway on October 1st. European Union Foreign Minister Miguel Moratinos is expected to open the forum with a meeting with the head of Iran’s nuclear energy program, Said Jalili.
The Americans view the scheduled meeting as a “first step”, with Iran stating the meeting will be a move towards allaying American fears.
Nevertheless, Iranian officials have announced that while they are willing to enter into talks in compliance with US President Barak Obama’s policy, there will be no discussion of entertaining any halt of Tehran’s nuclear enrichment program, which continues to advance daily towards the construction of a nuclear bomb.
