President Peres Back in Action

peres2.jpgLess than 12 hours after suffering a syncopal episode in front of a Tel Aviv audience on motzei shabbos, President Shimon Peres resumed his regular scheduled. The octogenarian continues to baffle many a politician considerably younger than he is, unable to understand how he maintains his rigid schedule at the modest age of 86.

Meeting US Mideast envoy George Mitchell, Peres stated “I feel excellent”, thanking world leaders who inquired into his well-being after his incident and subsequent transportation to a hospital in a paramedic ambulance made world news.

The director-general of the President’s Residence, Efrat Duvdevani asked the president to limit his schedule until next week, to permit himself time to recuperate, but he would not hear of it.

  1. #2, Halevai you knew of what you were speaking. If Rav Noach Weinberg zt’l was prepared to work with him, to ask him to speak to students in Israel on kiruv programs (I know. I took them the second time I met President Peres), who on earth are you to judge the man? Perhaps you are unaware of his instrumental role in Israel’s building a nuclear capacity. What do you think has held the Arabs at bay? Perhaps you are unaware of his role in getting thousands of Jews out of imminent danger. Is the man a tzadik gomur? Of course not, who is? But there are many kinds of tzidkus.
