Many municipalities on Sunday morning decided to defy a call from Shlomo Abutbul, who heads the Union of Local Authorities, continuing to provide services as usual rather than joining in the nationwide strike.

Some of the cities and municipalities not striking include Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Beersheva, Netanya, Hod HaSharon, Ashdod, Givatayim, Herzliya, Hadera, Holon, Kfar Saba, Rishon L’Tzion, Rechovot, and Ra’anana. As a result of their refusal to take part in the strike, schools in those areas are operating normally.

Abutbul expressed disappointment over their decision, stating the union stands by them in their hour of need and they are expected to do the same at present, when the representative organization is calling for a strike.
