Minister Ze’ev Elkin feels it is only a matter of time until the PA (Palestinian Authority) collapses. The minister made his statement during an address to the Bar Ilan Forum on Monday, 20 Adar-I, explaining “The Palestinian Authority and the entire arrangement in Yehuda and Shomron is based on the Oslo Accords which are going to collapse in the near future”.
Elkin also spoke of PA Chairman Abu Mazen, explaining the PA was established in no small part because of him, as he pushed for compromise with Israel but he feels he too will “disappear from the map”.
Just last week, Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon instructed Israel to hand over NIS 500 million to the PA, tax funds that were collected by Israel, which Kahlon explained is essential to prevent the financial collapse of the PA. Kahlon also consulted with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the two agreed to issue thousands of additional work permits for PA residents to work in Green Line Israel as another step to boost the PA economy.
