Suspect Identified In Hit-And-Run That Killed NYPD Officer

vinAuthorities have identified a suspect and the vehicle that they believe struck and killed an off-duty New York City police officer in a hit-and-run accident on the New Jersey Turnpike.

State Police Capt. Stephen Jones says no charges have been filed.

State police say the two-vehicle accident occurred around 3 a.m. Sunday in a southbound lane in Elizabeth.

Officials say 25-year-old Vincent Harrison got out of one of the cars and was on the shoulder when he was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Black and purple bunting is hanging outside the 100th Precinct in Queens, where Harrison worked. It wasn’t immediately clear if he was driving one the vehicles involved in the crash.

The driver of the car that hit the man fled the scene.
