Federal Contractors Will Crackdown on Illegals

imig.jpgThe healthcare debate has so overshadowed American politics that many Conservative Americans have failed to see progress made in another issue near and dear to their heart. Yesterday, the Obama administration began its requirement for Federal Contractors to check the status of their workers through a new system called, E-Verification.

E-Verify provides a database system that allows employers to cross-reference identity information with Social Security Administration records confirming work eligibility. Employers can register to participate in the E-Verify program via the Department of Homeland Security’s website. The program had been optional in many states until now. However, now federal contractors will not be granted a contract unless they agree to use E-verify to legitimize the fact that all their workers are legally allowed to work in the United States. Of course, federal contractor’s workers only make up 3.5 million people of the United States’ workforce. Furthermore, the system will still be subject to fraud as many illegal immigrants have been known to purchase false social security numbers along with other falsified documents in order to “legally” work in America.

America is a country that has been plagued with a problem of illegal immigrants. Conservatives argue that they are driving the country bankrupt, stealing American jobs, and adding to the crime rate in America. Liberals tend to defend illegal immigrants as those willing to do what Americans won’t do and essential to keeping prices down in many areas of this country in light of the cheap labor they provide. E-verify is a step towards cracking down on America’s problem of illegal immigrants.

  1. 1. Not exactly a pro-business policy (but it does help the unions, who are a core constituency of the Democrats). However by forcing up wages it will help fight deflation (assuming deflation needs to be fought).

    2. Bad news for lots of Israelis (and occasional Russian/Ukranians) who come to America without immigration visas.

    3. What the far right really wants is to kick out everyone who wasn’t here by the Revolution (not quite Reagan’s “Shining city on the hill” – but by modern standards, Reagan is a middle of the road Republican.

  2. A “new system”, E-Verification, is not needed. Allow local law enforcement to finish the job of Immigration officers. Also, just get a huge vacuum cleaner and drive up and down the downtown streets vacuuming up the illegal Mexicans who literally litter up the streets.

Further, this whole E-Verification is a ruse. Illegal Mexicans have the full cooperation of our schools, social service agencies, the ACLU, hospitals and health clinics, banks, Motor Vehicle Agencies (in SC and PA), and on and on.

  3. #2 — just let’em loose on 13th avenue in Boro Park and see how many of those Israeli accents are citizens

P.S. Aliens without proper documenation (the “green card”) get only emergency medical services, and even that goes with the risk of deportation.

  4. #3, I understand your editorial comment. I hope you are able to realize the weightiness you are applying to illegals who are Israeli in contrast to the Mexicans is a bit heavy handed. The impact on society is not equal, either.

PS. Illegal Mexicans are getting ALL medical services in emergency facilities, the most expensive facility, burning up our tax dollars when they are entitled to none. They proudly belong to another country.

  5. sammygol, you have a great sense of humor.

Hey veryinteresting and akuperma; illegals are entitled to welfare, food stamps, and free public education in addition to free healthcare. In New York City, the police are required NOT to ask citizenship status upon arrest.

akuperma, your hatred for the Republicans especially for the late, great Ronald Reagan, leads you to accuse them of things that the G.O.P. doesn’t dream of.

  6. #6 – Reagan was very moderate on legalizing hard working, law abiding, illegal immigrants. Such people make good Americans (and tend to be social conservatives as well). It’s also good for business.

While there are some right-wing nativists (currently in the Republican party for the most part) who don’t like Mexicans because they aren’t pure white (they don’t like us either, but that is besides the point), the core constituencies of the Democrats (African Americans and labor unions) are the most vocal in opposing Hispanic immigrants.

While minor citizens of alien parents receive the same benefits of other citizens, if the whole family are “illegal” they don’t qualify for welfare, food stamps, and any non-ER healthcare. Since most of them are employed and have a reputation for being very hard working and family oriented, there isn’t a great desire to kick them out (though many leave if they can’t find work).

  7. So illegals can no longer be federal contractors without falsifying documents???

    THIS IS NOT NEWS!

I want to know when E-Verify will come by with a bus and deport these criminals.

WHEN THE FENCE IS BUILT, YOU LET ME KNOW!

  8. For far too long American lives have been disrupted by higher taxes and lowering salaries because of contradictory policies of each administration on immigration. Standards of living have plummeted because of the selfish, unquenchable thirst for foreign labor taking work of people in the lower classes of job seekers. With the advent of the 1986 Amnesty the millions legalized immigrants working in the fields, evacuated these jobs for higher paying jobs. The working classes of America found themselves undercut in wages by the illegal laborers, who should have been halted at the fences, ports and on expired tourist visas. The only tool that has come to our aid is the Bush innovation E-Verify, a pilot program that has grown in magnitude to identify illegal workers.

No matter it’s problems it still has a success rate of 99.6 percent, and its intention is to eradicate working illegal labor from the payrolls of every city, county and state, within the boundaries of this sovereign nation. It’s been an upward exhaustive battle against money, influence in our Capitol. Business cartels and their lobbyists have tried to delay, cut, reexamine of just crush E-Verify, since it became painfully obvious it WORKS. It was near extinguished by Sen. Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Once in the public eye it generated it’s own limelight even through nearly compromised, but rose to the surface on a wave of public opinion. Certain politicians unable to stifle THE PEOPLE’S angry audience, changed their tune and looked for other immigration enforcement to dismantle.

Under Obama’s leadership they will try to rescind 287 G, the regular police training program to question people of their nationality. ICE raids have slowed and other enforcement laws have been corrupted also, like our lawmakers. Now they intend to enact another Amnesty, disguised as Immigration reform. In 1986 immigration law was efficient, but underfunded and full of deceit and fraud. Repair it, amend it, but don’t try to cover up the intention of allowing 20 million plus illegal aliens and families a route to citizenship? It’s a fight the large majority of Americans don’t want. It means even higher taxes to pay for the millions of illegal immigrants without health care. Only import into our country those who wait for eternity for visas and those with high educational, professionals and highly skilled. These legal newcomers will not be a public welfare recipient, only those who break our laws from the poverty of other lands.

Eject from our country, criminals who are habituating our prisons, Remove the illegal worker from the workplace and the families will leave also. Don’t sit and wait, but call your politician 202-224-3121 MORE TRUE INFORMATION AT NUMBERSUSA & JUDICIAL WATCH.

  9. The Mexicans actually do keep costs down for almost everyone. So while in the long term it may not be so great for the country its better for everyone who benefits from many products and services. Just as many people don’t like Mexicans remember they don’t really like Jews that much either; so we really don’t have too much of a say in the matter. Just live your lives and don’t think anything we say is going to fix the illegal problem!!!

  10. well I guess thats why the illegal people are out in the field working because us american just go stand on the road and ask for money,or we just stay home and get free money and food but not use our energy to do something useful which will help our family first and also our government.

So we should do something for those illegal who come and work and pay tax so that we can have our free food and money which they are not entitle for that. Yes we should enforce our immigration policy and at the same time we should think twice about those illegal who come and work hard in our country and its a different story for those illegal who do bad things may be we should deport them back.

  11. #6, with all due respect, I am not sure what your point is.

Stating what you claim to be a fact, “illegals are entitled to welfare, food stamps, and free public education in addition to free healthcare”, is not a response to an opinion. Also, just because they “get” those things, are you sure it is based on they are legally “entitled” to those things?

Remember: Illegal means against the law!
