Netanyahu Speaks of a ‘Reduction’, Not a ‘Freeze’

bibi1.jpgAccording to reports, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday morning, ahead of the weekly cabinet meeting, met with Likud ministers, seeking their support for his policy.

While the right-wing is accusing the prime minister of betraying voters, he insists that he is not embarking on a US-ordered construction freeze, but a reduction in construction, insisting he is about to move ahead with hundreds of housing units in Yehuda and Shomron.

A “senior political source” is quoted anonymously by the daily Yisrael HaYom as stating the prime minister plans to defy the international community and give the green light for the construction of hundreds of housing units in Yehuda and Shomron.

The message being released in Jerusalem presents a different reality, one in which US special Mideast envoy George Mitchell has been apprised of the prime ministers plans. While not coming out and saying the White House approvals, statements released by the Prime Minister’s Office hint at America coming to terms with the prime minister’s policy decision.

It appears Netanyahu plans to permit the completion of 2,500 units already in progress and approving hundreds of additional housing units. On the other side of the coin, there will be a building freeze of up to six months, and construction will be renewed in response to a failure by the PA (Palestinian Authority) to take concrete steps towards normalized relations with Israel. In addition, construction throughout Yerushalayim will continue with restrictions, despite American objections.

  1. “…there will be a building freeze of up to six months, and construction will be renewed in response to a failure by the PA (Palestinian Authority) to take concrete steps towards normalized relations with Israel.”

I love Bibi’s genius moves to always leave the ball in their court. We all know what will happen next.

  2. Lead your country. Listen to the advice of other leaders when they heed and act upon your advice. It is not good to show you are pliable in any way to others’ recommendations for how to run your country.

Tell Obama that you will talk about giving the palestinians and casino even though they have NO right to that land the way the Native Americans have every right to claim back land from America.
