Another attempt is being made to name a street in the Ramat Eshkol area of Yerushalayim over late Arutz-7 Radio host Adir Zik z”l. Zik, a shomer shabbos personality, was an outspoken voice for a Greater Eretz Yisrael.
Zik was known for his popular “Adir’s Fireworks” program aired on Arutz-7 Hebrew Radio, where he regularly bashed corruption, anti-Jewish and Torah policies, and remains an ardent defender of Torah and Eretz Yisrael. Zik was at home in a chassidic court as he was meeting with roshei yeshiva, or at a meeting of the Settlement Council, always exhibiting a love for the Jewish People and outspoken advocate of building Eretz Yisrael.
Opponents, the Israeli left-wing, represented by the left-wing parties on the Jerusalem City Council, are adamantly opposed, citing Zik’s open statements following the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin, labeling Rabin a traitor and opening speaking of a conspiracy, stating he did not believe that Yigal Amir was the assassin.
The naming of a street after Zik was defeated in the past and the matter was raised again last week, eliciting strong left-wing opposition.
