Taking Steps to Improve Security And Emergency Response in Areas of Yehuda And Shomron

The ongoing wave of Arab terror attacks in Israel, including areas of Yehuda and Shomron, has compelled security officials to address certain alarming realities, including delayed responses and the need for additional security vehicles in areas of Yehuda and Shomron.

The IDF announced last week that a fence that will signal an intrusion will be installed around communities that are without a fence today. In the S. Hebron Hills area, which has been hit hard by Palestinian terror since the attacks began on erev Rosh Hashanah 5776, inspections of communities were conducted to determine where security has to be improved. In addition, ten new security vehicles have been put into service in one area of Yehuda and Shomron, to be used by civilian security personnel.

These vehicles will operate 24/7 to patrol problematic areas and will provide an initial response vehicle to many calls for assistance. They will be replacing sorely outdated vehicles. There is also a request to replace a number of outdated ambulances.

In addition, cement blockades in place in the S. Hebron Hills will be replaced in the coming weeks and replaced by something more aesthetic, as per a request from the regional council. The computer illustration shows this. Iron polls like those seen in Jerusalem will replace the unsightly cement blocks.

S. Hebron Hills Regional Council leader Yochai Damari released a statement thanking the Defense Ministry, IDF Homefront Command and cabinet officials including Deputy Defense Minister Eli Ben-Dahan for being attentive to their needs during this crisis situation.
