Israel’s Arab Monitoring Committee has decided to call for a general strike in observance of the anniversary of the October 2000 riots that led to the death of 13 Arabs, involved in violent protests.
The committee decided they will call on Arab municipalities to observe a general strike to mark the day in an act of protest over what they view as Israel’s discriminatory policies towards the Israeli Arab community. MK (Hadash) Mohammad Barakeh announced of late, there has been an escalation in the anti-Arab sentiment. He accuses the current administration of increased discrimination against Israeli Arab residents and communities.
