Arab Taxi Driver Escapes Chareidi Lynch in Geula

22.jpgIn another chilul Hashem, members of Jerusalem’s chareidi community on Tuesday night tried to attack an Arab taxi driver in the Geula area.

At least one of the youths involved was armed with a pick axe and significant damage was caused to the taxi.

Reports indicate that at about 2:00am, “tens of chareidi youths” decided attacking an Arab driver at that hour would provide an easy target. According to the victim, who escaped with his life, police did not respond.

After the youths stopped the vehicle, shouting at the driver, the pick axe was pulled out along with other instruments and the hoodlums began attacking the vehicle. The driver told police later he realized his life was in danger, compelling him to hit the gas and flee the area.

Jerusalem Police spokesman Shmulik Ben-Ruby confirmed the details, adding police are searching for the suspects.

Rav Yisrael Meir Lau Shlita told Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) that the actions of these misguided youths, estimating they number about 200, are not representative of the masses, adding Gavaad Rav Y.T. Weiss is known as a “moderate”. He added these misguided youths do not adhere to the Gavaad’s directives.

Rav Laud condemned the actions of the hoodlums, adding they harm their own neighbors; the residents of the communities are must then contend with interruptions in bus and other municipal services.

The Rav acknowledged there are problems, including the treatment of the Meah Shearim mother, the Karta parking lot, and other issues, but adding he too has decades of experience, and his methodology differs. Rav Lau explained that in Netanya, a non-religious tourist city, no movie theaters operated on Shabbos, explaining there are ways to act via dialogue, avoiding  protests and not through confrontation, rock-throwing or shouts of “Nazi”.

  1. Let the Arabs live in fear in EY for once. The vaunted Tzahal do not instill any fear in the bnei Yishmoel so let real Yidden do it.

  2. There is a principle of “Shtika k’Hoda’ah”. If you remain silent, you show that you agree!

As long as these miscreants are can get an aliyah in shul, as long as they are spat upon in the street, as long as the local shopkeeper is willing to serve them, etc., the violence continues.

These people should not be referred to as “charedim”; call them “machrivim”. As long as the chareidim include these people in the term chareidim, Then they are also guilty.

  3. What were any of them doing at 2 a.m.?
    And why didn’t police come?
How could they tell he was an Arab (I doubt he would drive into a Jewish area with a big sign – he was probably dressed like any other non-frum Israel and probably spoke fluent Hebrew with a middle eastern accent)?

The accounts seem a bit “fishy”.

  4. I suppose there is your proof that these hooligans have no connection to the Eidah HaChareidis. The Eidah has no nationalistic views regarding lynching Arabs!

  5. Why is a site like “Yeshiva” World who considers itself orthodox and Yeshivish repeating news from secular media without verifying the other side of the story? The secular media are known for their distortion of the news when it comes to chareidim and purposely omitting the truth.

There are 100s of Arab taxis in Jerusalem and if Jews are compelled to give it to this driver as they were taught by Chaptzem in NY, who knows what this driver did? In Israel it’s not a secret that police will not even detain him if he did anything against chareidim or any group of religious Jews just like they haven’t done anything to the drivers that almost killed several of the protesters. Go find out before being mostzi shem ra berabim.

  6. Regarding checking the accuracy of a story, I believe there is no way to be fully certain of any facts.

Anyone who has ever attended an event or seen something eventually reported in the papers knows when they read the article about the event that they always get some of the story wrong.

I dont like the way this story starts off, “In another chilul Hashem……”

  7. That’s right Bar26 (# 7) – Shoot the messenger.

Nochamol in # 3 said “As long as these miscreants are can get an aliyah in shul, as long as they are spat upon (sic)in the street, as long as the local shopkeeper is willing to serve them, etc., the violence continues.” To that I would add . . . as long as self-serving apologists contine to be in denial.

  8. Who among us does not have something to do tshuva for? Who among us knows how any given misdeed is accounted for? Why bring up who “should” and who “should not” get an aliyah in shul?

  9. #11, Can I assume you speak on behalf of YWN? I think the article would be more news-like and professional if it omitted the line, “In another chilul Hashem…..”, because it takes a very very very, gravely serious concept and uses it in a casual, ordinary way.

For the sake of discussion, how are you so sure it’s a chilul Hashem? I am not agreeing with them; only reacting to your certainty that while editorializing, the writer of YWN is correct.

  10. Boruch hashem! The oilam is dan lekaf zechus! Very nice. First of all you can be fairly certain it happened like said.Ok they zicher wouldn’t have killed the guy, but he couldn’t have known that at the time. So everyone asks how is it shayich for something like this to happen among frumme yidden? The answer is a bit complex and gruesome. The first thing you have to know is that its kids. Teenagers. Bored guys with no life from an american viewpoint.second it is not as uncommon as it sounds. Every year after hakafos shnias the these guys riot breaking traffic lights and lighting fires. Then they stop all taxis and if your an arab…not pretty. How do they know? Most arab taxi drivers are private taxis meaning they don’t work for a company hence don’t have a company logo on them. Also israeli-arabs have a strong arabic accent. They can’t pronounce certain letters and their grammar is normally not great. So they find out fast. Where are the cops? A) the cops are scared of these guys too. If they come they have to come in force with the elite yasam, horses, water canons etc. And that is exactly what happens every year after hakafos shneis. The mishmar hgvul (paramilitary) and yasam roll in with force, beat everyone up and the crowd disperses. Most arabs know to stay away but you always have that one who doesn’t know or made a wrong turn. Crazy. Doesn’t make any sense but lemaaseh that’s what happens.

  11. Yes, you have a big problem with Jews who stand up as Jews and are not politically correct. I am proud to cause you pain, #14.

My only concern is with Jewish lives. I would love to see the state collapse but it won’t happen. Therefore, let whoever can keep the Arabs in fear do it however they can.

  12. it is time to get the shababniks off the street and back into the Beis Medresh, what are the israeli rabbonim doing to deal with the situation??

  13. See here’s the thing.
The irritants who protest against an autopsy wouldn’t even stop their car if they were the ones who killed the person in the first place! I have had an encounter or two with these people, Both in business and socially. First off I am more afraid of them then I am of an arab! You can protect any sect of Judaism you want. However these particular people ( the american bochurim aside) are a stain on all of humanity and of course on us jews!

  14. Sammygol first of all i am sure an “intelligent” person like you has a job, and is not board, there for its a pity for you to be wasteing your time writing so many comments, all your comments any way on what ever subbject seem to have one clear theme that you are a self hating jew so why not leave one clear comment i hate frum jews and we will all know what your comment would have been on that subject and maybe if you did that and kept quite it might give veiwers a chance to think that maybe just maybe you might have said some thing inteligent for a change for most of your comments seem to indecate that you seem to be quite narrow minded and nieve and just in case you do have spare time after all your commenting may i suggest you start to write some fiction books i think you would go far with that concidering your imagination capebbilities.
