Some feel that IDF Chief Rabbi Brigadier-General Rafi Perez acted in a politically incorrect fashion when he danced at a chasenah with Rabbi Yitzchak Shapira, who authored the controversial “Toras HaMelech” sefer. The video was shown in a report filed by Channel 2 News corresponded Yair Shariki.
In the past there were calls to arrest and imprison the authors of the sefer, which addresses the 7 Mitzvos Bnei Noach, mentioning the killing of a non-Jew who threatens Eretz Yisrael. Ultimately, following an investigation, Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein ordered closing the case against the rabbonim, including Rabbi Shapira.
It appears in the eyes of the news and some others, Peretz should not have attended, or at the very least, not danced with the rabbi and even daring to wear his hat as seen.
The chasenah was held in Shiras Yerushalayim, with the news reporting adding this is the same hall that hosted the so-called “hate wedding”, perhaps another transgression.
Israel police arrested a number of participants of that wedding, including the chosson, after a video showed a video of a wedding at which Hilltop Youths were dancing while waving automatic weapons and pistols, which were also given to children to dance, and with a photo of Ali, the Arab child killed in the Duma arson attack with a knife through the photo.
In response to the Channel 2 report, the IDF Spokesman’s stated “The IDF Chief Rabbi attended the wedding because the father of the chosson until recently was a member of the military rabbinate”.
