Dayan HaGaon HaRav Tzion Boaron Shlita spoke with Kol Berama Radio regarding the recent decision to permit Reform Movement conversion candidates to toivel in a Rabbinate mikve in front of a Reform beis din.

The rav stated “I do not believe it begins with the High Court, which claims to be independent. With all due respect, it is beholden to the government. If the court ruled as it did, it received an order from above, and it is most unfortunate the chareidi parties do nothing about it”.

The rav added, “They [chareidi MKs] deal with welfare matters and while this is welcome in itself, it is not what they were established for. Agudas Yisrael was established by Gedolei Yisrael, Rabbonim and Admorim, for one goal, to safeguard religious matters. The same holds true regarding Shas, which was established by Maran to increase kovod for Torah values. There is no way today to stand there flapping in the wind about matters of welfare and money but no one is speaking about stopping the Reform Movement and with each passing day the allocation of a place for joint prayer for men and women by the Kosel continues to spread. That they voted against it is not significant. They must act and they know how to act”.

The rav then added “I don’t believe that they confer with rabbonim. They do as they please and unfortunately, this is the outcome. The religious parties should be concerned regarding matters of religion, not welfare. This is what they were created”.

The rav also expressed criticism against Yated Neeman for providing a forum for Benny Rabinowitz, who attacked Jerusalem Sephardi Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar Shlita. He called Rabinowitz’s words “chutzpah”, adding Rav Amar has been fighting against the Reform for many years, including 25 years ago as a member of the Beersheva Beis Din. “It is most unfortunate that Yated gives him a forum to speak out against such a rav as he did in the past against HaRav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg and Rav Fischer of Yeshivas Itri”.
