Seeking to circumvent Israeli objections and demands, PA Prime Minister Salim Fayyad announced his master plan for the establishment of Palestine within two years, seeking to take advantage of the support of the international community.
While the White House and European Community are pushing to revitalize diplomatic talks, Fayyad is seeking to create facts on the ground, setting up the infrastructure of a PA state regardless of the outcome of talks with Israel.
Speaking to reporters in Ramallah, Fayyad condemned the “occupation” and pointed out there is much disagreement, highlighted by Hamas taking control of Gaza, in 2007. He stated there is an absolute need to establish the PA state, which is long overdue, focusing on unprecedented support from the international community.
Fayyad emphasized the days of passively waiting for the world to give birth to a Palestinian state, the PA will now become proactive and is taking necessary actions to bring about such a reality, trimming government and working on increased efficiency and transparency towards achieving this goal.
