Cleanup Continues In Parts Of NYC After Wild Storm

After a night of powerful storms across parts of the tri-state area, many communities were waking up Wednesday morning to a day of cleaning up, as the wild summer weather brought down branches and trees.

Manhattan’s Upper West Side suffered most of the damage. Strong winds knocked over large trees on Central Park West, stopping traffic as branches fell across the roads and sidewalks.

Large trees fell down inside Central Park. Dozens of trees could be seen Wednesday morning across walking paths, including near 86th Street, prompting park officials to close the crosstown artery for cleanup.

Though no injuries were reported as a result of the downed trees, some residents were spooked by all the dangerous activity.

Crews could be seen working to cleanup all the loose branches from the toppled trees.

Meteorologist John Elliott is calling for the possibility of more powerful storms on Wednesday.
