More on Tzfas Toddler Abandonment

A city worker in Tzfas on Sunday morning observed a male wearing a yarmulke leaving a 2-year-old boy on the sidewalk, then fleeing the area. The city worker contacted police and the child is being cared for by social services as reported earlier.

The city worker told Ynet “he was just about to step into the street and I picked him up to safety. He could have been run over”.

Tzfas Police Chief Ron Ofir is quoted by Chareidim as stating the man was with the child in an area zoo and the next moment, he was seen fleeing, leaving the child behind. A worker of the zoo complex brought the child to the police station Ofir added.

The employee identified the man, leading to an arrest. The man, believed to be the father, is in police custody.
