A small number of chareidim on Monday night the eve of 23 Shevat held an unruly protest on Nahar Yarden Street in Ramat Beit Shemesh. Keep in line with their usual custom, they burned garbage and threw stones at police. One policeman who was wearing a yarmulke was attacked amid shouts of “Chardak” which were directed at him.
Two of the several dozen protesters were arrested by police. Participants in the protest explained they are opposed to the induction of chareidim into the IDF and they claimed a talmid yeshiva was locked up by military authorities, triggering the protest. Police were compelled riot-control adjuncts to restore order including stun grenades to distance the protestors, who were trying to block area roads.

Why were they arrested? I thought Israel is the only “democracy” in the middle east? Yet they arrest and torture Meir Ettinger and now these boys will be tortured and prevented from wearing tefillin.
What does being a democracy have to do with letting people (charedi) burn garbage and attack people?.
Zealots? total nincompoops who are incapable of thinking something through and understanding something other than their particular brand of brainwash….
They are following the chazon ish as per Ben gurions comment when he left the meeting.
It doesn’t seem like he has any plans on running a democracy.
#1: Read the end of the first paragraph again, very slowly, to find out why they were arrested.
Also, please provide proof that the boys WILL be tortured and prevented from wearing tefillin.
plain and simple: burning garbage and making the entire area smell like bbq diapers, is enough to be arrested.
Police were compelled riot-control adjuncts to restore order including stun grenades to distance the protestors, who were trying to block area roads.
CARS NEED TO RIDE ON ROADS, this has nothing to do with Ben Gurion, Chazon Ish or army induction. This is a way for these protestors to make a living and get a payout for demonstrating.
Please don’t use the word “chardakim” in the title. It’s quite deragatory.
They should arrest all of them. When I finally get home after many days on the army base and hours of busses/trains I shouldn’t need to deal with these lunatics yelling at me because they have nothing better to do.
And this has nothing to do with Me or Ettinger. I hope he gets out but he has nothing to do with these fools.
*Meir not me or
I don’t think the Chazon Ish would have wanted us to hurt people or burn rubbish to make our point!
A democracy allows Protests that are carried out in a CIVILISED fashion!
It’s just a small number it might as well be 2 people your fuss is more then the people
I wonder if these Lunatics know what סוג׳ their Yeshiva, that’s protecting them from the army, is learning!
