The large crowd succeded in preventing the air-strike. Barhoud is a commander in the Popular Resistance Committees in the town who is in charge of firing Kassam rockets at Sderot. This points up the difference between the Israelis and their enemies. The Palestinians know that the Israelis will avoid killing “innocents,” so a crowd is a protection. They, on the other hand, deliberately target innocents, so a crowd would afford no protection at all.
