New York City’s area airports are open, but that doesn’t mean would-be passengers are going anywhere.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says more than half of flights at John F. Kennedy International Airport have been cancelled, and about 85 percent of flights at LaGuardia Airport.
The airports both got more than two feet of snow from the blizzard.
There are some lucky travelers. The Port Authority says the first flight arriving at JFK was an Air India flight that arrived at 7:10 a.m., and the first departing flight left shortly after 10 a.m.
LaGuardia’s first departure is scheduled for noon.
