Jerusalem Administrative Court Justice Tzvi Zilbertal on Friday rejected a lawsuit filed against Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat by Moshe Sorek citing the unacceptable decision by the mayor to collectively punish the Meah Shearim area community following the recent rioting. The court stated it is abundantly clear that City Hall does indeed intend to address the repairs required to correct the damage caused during the violence in distinct contradiction to the claims made in the lawsuit.
The court commended the petitioner who was seeking to correct the situation in the area for his community, adding he did not seek anything for himself. Therefore, the court did not award Sorek payment for his legal expenses.
