Yerushalmi Faction Suspects in Chardakim Case to be Released from Jail Before Shabbos

idffAn appeal has been filed on behalf of the three bnei torah suspected of being behind a campaign against chardakim, chareidim serving in the IDF. The three, talmidim of HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita, the so-called Yerushalmi branch, were remanded on Wednesday 3 Shevat and ordered to remain in jail until Sunday. The appeal was filed on Thursday, 4 Shevat with the Jerusalem District Court by attorneys Gil Dachuach and Omer Balili. Kikar Shabbos News spoke with Balili, reporting he says the defendants deny connection to the distribution of a pamphlet against chardakim. The court decided to permit their release on erev Shabbos.

The lawyers claim the private detective who was hired to find out who was behind the pamphlet against chardakim was disguised as a chareidi philanthropist. He feels that his findings and testimony, which is the basis of the prosecution’s case, are erroneous. He insists the pamphlet was distributed before the private detective met his clients and that is how he was able to get hold of copies, not because he stood behind them.

As YWN-ISRAEL reported earlier this week, one of the chareidi soldiers shown in the pamphlet, Yehuda Glickman, has filed a civil suit against the suspects, and he hired the private detective and furnished the district attorney with the information to arrest the suspects. Glickman insists the pamphlet caused him a great deal of pain and damage and this is why he decided to track down those responsible.
