images10:00: The following update is provided by Tel Hashomer Hospital.

President Peres earlier today, Thursday, 4 Shevat, arrived in the hospital complaining of chest pain. It was determined that the former president h

ad a blockage in one of his cardiac arteries.

Mr. Peres’ private physician, Prof. Refael Walden, added that the pain he was experiencing was not serious, but he made the decision to play it safe and have him taken to the hospital. After the EKG Mr. Peres was taken immediately for a cardiac catheterization and a blocked vessel was opened and a stent inserted. He is feeling good and was alert the entire time. The only thing that has him upset is that he has to cancel a planned event in Nachal Sorek today.

Chief of Cardiac Medicine at Tel Hashomer Prof Michael Eldar adds “It was a minor cardiac incident. The blocked vessel was totally reopened and therefore the cardiac incident was minor, due to the quick and successful intervention. His other vessels appear good and he is in excellent overall health”.
