YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Hagon Rav Moshe Chait ZATZAL, the Rosh Yeshiva in Chofetz Chaim in Yerushalayim. The Levaya will take place tonight, Wednesday night (Tisha B’Av), in Eretz Yisroel at Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim on Rechov Yam Suf at 10:30 PM JST.
There will be a live video hook-up to the Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim in Kew Gardens Hills at 3:30 PM EST. There will be seating for men and women. The Yeshiva in Queens anticipates all the technical connections between here and Eretz Yisroel working out correctly. Understanding that it is Tisha B’Av in Israel, and the lack of availability of technicians on such an evening, it is possible that the video connection may not happen at the last minute. They ask for everyone’s understanding.
There will also be a phone hookup that you can call starting 3:30 PM EST, 1-270-696-2525, access number 7601147.
Shiva information: The family will be sitting shiva at Rav Moshe Chait’s apartment, 44 Eshkol Blvd. in Ramat Eshkol. The family has requested that visitors only come from 9 AM to 1 PM, and from 4 PM to 7 PM. The family requests that phone calls to the Bais Avel be limited – they are not making the home phone number available. Faxed messages of nichum aveilim will be appreciated, and can be faxed into 011-972-2-532-5380. Make sure your name is on the fax, and a number where you can be reached in case the family wishes to contact you later.
May Klal Yisroel soon experience the return to Tzion and the end of all death, and may the family experience no more sorrow.

Ruvain,Boruch,Brenda, & Dovid,
Your father was a prince of a man whose very presence inspired countless talmidim in mussar, midos, and depth of Torah study. He will be sorely missed.
he was such a tzaddik. so sweet. truly a great loss for klal yisrael
I join all of Klal Yisroel in mourning for a consummate Tzaddik – and a Rebbi who will NEVER be forgotten. May he be a Melitz Yosher for us all.

Our rebbe with a dynamite smile, sparkling eyes and love for klal yisroel & eretz yisroel, we are pained at our loss.
It is interesting that Rabbi Moshe Chait zt”l , was niftar before TeShaBav. His philosophy and personal mussar , was to greet everone with a smile and a positive attitude . He not only learned mussar , he lived mussar . I never remember him ever looking depressed . Never saw him lose his cool. We were a regular group of American guys , and we never seemed to get under his skin. Thats a middah of not only a professional mechanich / torah teacher , but true “mentch.” As an instuctor / filmmaker , I look back on that year in Jerusalem-Israel with great pride in having learned and known such a good man/tzaddik. May His Memory Be a Blessing….Mr. M. Moshe Milch
Rav Moshe was a tremendous person. When I learned by him for a year I can’t remember him not having a smile on his face. Despite many years of health issues he was always there for his talmidim. His loss is felt by us all.
Rabbi Moshe D. Chait z”l was my rauv at the YI of Wavecrest & Bayswater. I still remember the dvar Torauh that he gave me for “Shalashudis” over 45 years ago on the subject of “Maasay auvoth seemaun l’vauneem.” Moreover, I remember the feelings of welcome and nurture that I got from him and his household.
I don’t remember his “toying” with the Torauh by piling on assorted conflicting Medrausheem as was popular at the time. He reinforced the approach of my rebbe z”l and afforded me a view of Torah as a serious pursuit.
T’hay nishmautho tzrurauh bi-tzror ha-xayeem!
I remember Rav Chait z”l during my half a year in Chofetz Chaim in Yerushalayim in 1980. The shmuzin he gave every Thursday evening with a fortress of recorders because everyone wanted to capture every word he said. At one shalosh seudot he gave a d’var torah on why the diaspora has two days of Yom Tov and besides the obvious calendarical answer added that the extra day was a k’nas on k’lal yisrael living outside of Eretz Yisrael. He loved being in Eretz Yisrael. Y’hi Zichro Baruch. Does anyone know where I can find recordings of his shmuzin? Please post.
